To develop FACMIL into a ‘Centre of Excellence of Combat Leadership’ (CECL) for IA for undertaking research and training on leadership at Strategic, Operational, and Tactical levels.

To be the nodal faculty for developing leaders of IA and conduct research on contemporary leadership thoughts.

The envisioned role of FACMIL is as under:

• 1.1 Conduct Leadership training for the IA.
• 1.2 Conduct Doctrinal Research on contemporary leadership subjects.
• 1.3 Conduct Seminars and Webinars on Leadership.
• 1.4 Nodal agency for all manuals and publications on leadership for IA.
• 1.5 Institutionalised interaction with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) posted to Leadership Schools of sister-services, civil institutions, and Friendly Foreign Country (FFC) institutions.
• 1.6 Serve as repository for all Leadership aspects pertaining to IA.
