ABOUT FACULTY OF STUDIES(FOS)

FOS : BRIEF

1.The Indian Army initiated the process of establishing a Centre of Excellence of Combat Leadership at Army War College (AWC) in 2016/17. Accordingly, Faculty of Military Leadership (FACMIL) commenced its raising in October 2020 and became operationalised on 01 April 2021.
2.Faculty of Military Leadership (FACMIL) was raised with the aim to develop leadership aspects among Indian Army (IA) officers and become a centre of excellence in combat leadership.
 
3.As per the charter, FACMIL is the nodal agency for all aspects of leadership revolving around shaping the future leaders (officers).
 
4.The FACMIL conducts a series of structured leadership training initiatives during the training year. These programmes are designed to enhance leadership competencies across various levels of the military hierarchy. The training caters to:
  • Officers undergoing various courses at the Army War College (AWC)
  • Senior officers in capstone programmes
  • Online programmes for SB3 non-empanelled officers in field formations
  • Instructors posted in Category 'A' Establishments & PCTAs under the 'Training the Trainers' initiative
  • Other specialized leadership development programs
